Daejeon Arts Center opened a new horizon in culture and arts with its majestic
opening
on October 1, 2003. As the most prized possession of the city of Daejeon,
transforming itself into a cultural and artistic city in Korea, it has been
playing
its role most ardently.
대전예술의전당은 2003년 10월 1일, 웅장한 개관과 함께 문화예술의 새로운 지평을 열었습니다.
한국에서 문화예술 도시로 변화하고 있는 대전시의 가장 자랑스러운 자산으로서,
그 역할을 누구보다도 열정적으로 수행해왔습니다.

As a cultural and artistic space equipped with advanced systems, it has contributed to raising the overall standard of living for the citizens of Daejeon by providing more opportunities of enjoying culture and art as well as chances for invaluable leisure.

Daejeon Arts Center opened a new horizon in culture and arts with its majestic
opening on October 1, 2003.
As the most prized possession of the city of Daejeon, transforming itself into a
cultural and artistic city in Korea, it has been playing its role most ardently.
As a cultural and
artistic space equipped with advanced systems, it has contributed to raising the
overall standard of living for the citizens of Daejeon by providing more
opportunities of enjoying culture and art as well as chances for invaluable leisure.
Providing schedules and programs reflecting the seasons has allowed the center to
become
the subject of much benchmarking by other performance groups. This shows
how
successful the Daejeon Arts Center has become.
Based on our
detailed
analysis of the preferences of the audience, we have come up with more
audience-oriented performances(in series) which has helped raise the
satisfaction of
the audience in addition to securing a wider spectrum of audience that will
translate into regular attendance.
Furthermore, we have remained dedicated to house-produced opera and plays which
remain somewhat of a challenge for performance halls not blessed with the expertise
and
specialized personnel such as ours.
Our accumulation of knowledge in production has enabled us to expand our sphere of
involvement to outside the Daejeon area to help us put on performances in
association with
nearby cities and to contribute to balanced promotion and
growth of
regional culture and art.
We have also been involved in several meaningful projects such as the music academy
for the identification and education of the gifted, culture and art education to
provide
opportunities to understanding and appreciating art, performance
training
program to nurture specialists in performance arts, school music concerts and open
house schemes to
allow the public to gain understanding of performance
etiquettes
and general knowledge through back stage tours, YODJAC that offers young people to
perform in orchestras
and gain stage experience as well as SNAC which involves
selecting young musicians to perform on stage as a means to prepare them for the
professional world of music.
Culture and art in
life
will have serious implications in the 21st century.
Daejeon Arts Center intends to accommodate such a demand and shall work to improve
the overall standard of living for the citizens of Daejeon through its commitment to
a
high
standard in performance.
지역 문화예술 발전과 시민의 문화예술 향유 기회 확대를 위해 대전광역시청 산하 사업소로 2003년 10월 개관하였다.
오페라, 뮤지컬, 무용 등 다양한 장르의 공연이 가능한 아트홀(1,546석) 및 앙상블홀(643석)과 야외 원형극장(850석)을 보유하고 있다.
개관 이후 세계적이고 수준 높은 공연 작품을 초청하고 국내·외 예술단체와 공연장과의 교류를 통해 품격 높은 공연예술을 선보여 왔다.
또한 지역 예술인과의 협업과 유망 예술인을 발굴하여 건강한 지역 예술 생태계를 조성하기 위해 노력하고 있다.
2023년 개관 20주년을 기념한 이후 더욱 새롭고 다채로운 프로그램으로 시민과 관객들을 만나고 있다.
